Why we are not safe from Pesticides living in the city

If you think we only need to be concerned solely with pesticide exposure from conventionally sprayed fruits and vegetables, then think again.

When this article came out reporting on a study that New Yorkers are exposed to more pesticides than rural residents“, I almost brushed past it. Read more ..

E-waste Recycling and Can it Save the 21st Century - The Urban Ecolife

One word comes to mind when I think about our modern society.

Technology.

Being the frugal eco-warrior that I am, I then think this.

E-waste.

Essentially, electronic waste.

When more people own mobile phones than toilets and toothbrushes, you know we’re onto something as a society. That was enough to make my eyes pop. Gees, think about all that open waste without toilets – that’s a lot of holes being dug… or not. Read more ..

As an owner of a rather obnoxiously large television, it may come as a surprise to you that I don’t actually watch that much on it these days. In fact, most of the time, it just sits there on stand-by. BIG MISTAKE. Read more ..

As in, this very minute/second/millisecond/fleeting, momentary space in time. There’s no point in waiting for a ‘better’ tomorrow. When people ask me what I’m into of late, a yellow liquidy substance literally dribbles down my leg as I geekishly declare my love for all things apocalyptic. This image that I’ve so eloquently painted for you reminds me of my brother’s ratbag of a Labrador that has yet to grow some balls and is still basking in his puppy phase where he can’t help but piss himself with excitement when a human comes outside to play. Lovely imagery.  Before you send me to the nut house, may I elaborate? Read more ..

Grass fed vs Grain fed beef and Why does it matter? - The Urban Ecolife

Just like any food you consume, it’s important to know where it’s coming from and what’s gone into the production of said food. Meat is no exception. With steak being a personal favourite treat of mine, let me explain why it is important to choose grass-fed vs grain-fed beef.

I EAT MEAT ... and lot's of other stuff too (let me explain) - The Urban Ecolife

I love me a good piece of medium-rare cooked steak. Filet Mignon being my favourite. This breaking news may not make the front page of the Sunday paper, but it may make some people gasp in horror. Aren’t I meant to be some kind of eco-conscious citizen? Like a hippy you know… and doesn’t that equate to being a vegan? Read more ..
