Mixed Spice Orange Chocolate Balls

Mixed Spice Orange Chocolate Balls - The Urban Ecolife

It’s that time of year again.

The time where kids are forced to sit on some old, white bearded guy’s lap,

Just because he’s wearing some extra large red suit and dorky cap.

Meanwhile the parents take photos and shrill will glee,

And the kids just whine and scream, just wanting to flee.

It’s that time for the chaotic herds of mentally deranged shoppers to flock to the mall.

While the 25 versions of “Little Drummer Boy” plays on repeat, driving staff up the wall.

But I’m no Christmas Grinch.

I love a good Christmas Cracker Pun.

It’s the opportunity for guilt-free indulging and a sack full of fun;

The company of loved ones and some delicious, home cooked food.

How can these things not lift your mood?

It’s our time, as foodies, to shine like the bright little stars we are;

To prepare some delicious, home-cooked food and pour a few drinks from the bar.

Try this Christmas treat washed down with some brandy,

Just don’t leave them out for Santa, or he may get a little too dandy.

Ok, lame poems aside. I thought I’d try my hand at encouraging a little creative Christmas cheer but it seems, I’m best to stick with the food and leave this other part to the professionals. So hence, this recipe. Or for those of you whom baking may not be your forte but you’re craving something just a little big naughty and indulgent, minus the drippings of guilt. Orange, chocolate. spice and all things nice. Whether you have or haven’t been a good little lad or lass this year, it’s a treat everyone can enjoy. For another no-bake Christmas treat idea, check out my popular Paleo White Christmas. (And yes, I made this again this year. It’s a winner!)

May your Christmas be filled with love and joy as we remember the real reason for the season. And I sincerely hope 2015 comes with many joyful surprises and blissful fun.

I’ll see you on the other side my friends.
