You know those days when you wake up and you look outside and the sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and there’s not a cloud in the sky, and you just think to yourself, “Wow, I could really plant a garden right now.” Yeah, probably not.
I’ll be the first to admit that those kind of days I’m usually thinking more along the lines of, “I could really go for a piña colada by the pool right now and commit to doing absolutely zilch!“
Which is why I’ve got to hand it to this guy: Ron Finley. His story sure is motivating if ever you need a reason to go plant garden. Take a moment to watch it now. I promise, it’ll bring a smile to your face.
Just a short trip through my city, I look around and can count 2 handfuls of vacant ‘properties; that seem to be doing no good for nothing. Imagine the kind of world we could create for ourselves if we made practical use of these land lots? I imagine a day when each neighbourhood block has a community garden you can stroll down to on a Sunday morning to harvest your fresh produce. Dream on, you tell me? Well, with more guys like Ron Finley who are making this a reality, this kind of future might not be too far off.
